Now that I’m sure no one will ever read this…..

Having been almost a year since I’ve put anything up here, and having also killed all social media links, you will have to be a pretty dedicated follower or too lazy to ever unsubscribe to be exposed to this babble.

Really have no idea where this is going to go so we’ll be in the discovery process together, all 2 of us.

One of the best parts of not being in the Utah desert all summer again, away from friends, family and my motorcycle, is all the fun shit I’ve been able to get after.

My Beautiful Oregon Desert

The Badlands wilderness east of Bend is truly one of my favorite places on earth, amazingly accessible and a place you can truly be alone not that far from the hordes.

Ran down the Oregon coast to do some bottom fishing with a buddy from work on this chartered boat. Not normally my kind of thing as it tends to be pretty expensive overall but running hard down the coast on a gorgeous day and not puking once, a first for me on the ocean, made it worth while. Plus the pile of fish currently in my freezer.

Lush Desert Goodness

Did my first official organized motorcycle rally this June in country I’m familiar with and had a great time. Met some cool folks, saw a few old friends and found out I’m a pretty good off-road rider. The desert was so crazy green and lush it was mind-blowing, I haven’t seen the desert like this since 1993.

Soooooo Fast!

This fucking thing here. It belongs to my niece’s husband, it was gifted to him by one of our family’s oldest friends in Bend. He, the niece’s husband, is new to riding and the bike is a little spooky for an inexperienced rider, hell I have a shit ton of miles under my belt and it intimated me. I finally got it out for a spin and after getting the feel for it on back-roads I wandered over to Hwy 20 East out of Bend and opened it up. It took some finesse to keep the front tire on the ground hammering through the first few gears but it settled in nicely as the speed built up and I got her to 130 before my nerve broke. So goddamn stable at 100 it felt like 40, such a nice change from my burble, fart, burp, blat KLR. I will be testing it’s capacity and my nerve again soon. Thanks, Kevin! And Tony!

The other big bonus of not disappearing is being able to spend time with friends. Most are scattered to the 4 winds as my lifestyle to this point has had me all over the goddamn place, but a few here in the area and in Bend have been good to hang with. Most all of them are female and are to a woman the best goddamn people I know. I’m a pretty picky fucker when it comes to people I’m willing to be more than casual friends with and the people around me are all admirable, good and fun folks who truly pick their path and don’t let the bullshit distract them from living full intentional lives.

So, Niece and friend Ellie; artist and wife extraordinaire (Not mine, Andy is her very lucky man) Jessie; Traveling and general open to experience Wonder-woman Jessica; Lisa the stud…I admire the fuck out of you all and am a very lucky man to have all of you, and so many more top notch folks, in my life.

Great pix. Awesome to hear you made an ocean trip without chumming. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend. Love you!

  2. Great photo of the green desert.
The VFRs are a great capable bike. I’ve got an older 750 that makes all the right noises that I put on the road for a couple of months each year.

Thanks, it was stunning out there. I haven’t spent much time on the low fast bikes but the VFR was a hoot, may have to get a road burner at some point

      1. The VFR has a great power curve that just makes it easy to ride and not too intimidating. My daily ride on the other hand is a ZX14R… which has an intoxicating amount of power.

Yeah, holy shit. I think I’ll keep a road bike around 6-700cc. Find a sweet naked bike or some such
